Bambu Bar

Support

Set up in a minute. Help when you need it.

Getting connected, finding the access code, turning on controls and fixing the usual suspects.

Get started

Five steps. About a minute.

  1. 1

    Install

Download the latest release, unzip it and move Bambu Bar.app to Applications.

  2. 2

    Pick your printer

Bambu Bar lists the printers it finds on your network. Not there? Choose Enter address manually and type its IP address.

  3. 3

    Allow the local network

When macOS asks whether Bambu Bar may find devices on your local network, click Allow.

  4. 4

    Check the access code

It fills itself in from Bambu Studio or OrcaSlicer. If not, it's on the printer under Settings → Network.

  5. 5

    Connect

Click Connect. Progress shows up in the menu bar as soon as the printer reports in.

Troubleshooting

Something not right? Start here.

Bambu Bar can't find my printer

Make sure the Mac and the printer are on the same network, not a guest Wi-Fi or a VLAN that blocks local traffic. Check System Settings → Privacy & Security → Local Network and turn Bambu Bar on. You can always use Enter address manually with the IP address from the printer's screen (Settings → Network).

Pause, resume, stop or speed don't work

Bambu Lab only accepts these commands from other apps when the printer is in LAN Only mode with Developer Mode on (printer screen → Settings → Network). Without it, Bambu Bar shows a lock on the buttons and tells you why. Status works in any mode, and so does the chamber light.

The access code didn't fill in

Bambu Bar reads it from Bambu Studio or OrcaSlicer on this Mac. If your slicer is on another Mac, drop that Mac's ~/Library/Application Support/BambuStudio/BambuStudio.conf onto the setup page. Or type the 8-character Access Code from the printer's screen.

The access code stopped working

The code changes after a factory reset, or when you change it on the printer. If your slicer has the new one, Bambu Bar offers to use it; otherwise enter the code from the printer's screen.

The widget doesn't update

Widgets show what the app last saw, so keep Bambu Bar running (Open at Login does that). While a print runs, each widget counts progress and time left forward on its own between updates.

Something else looks off

Open an issue with your printer model, firmware version, macOS version and what you saw.

Keyboard shortcuts

Quicker from the keyboard.

  • Printer, Filament, Widgets, Settings, About⌘1 – 5
  • Ask the printer for a full report⌘R
  • Turn the chamber light on or off⌘L
  • Settings⌘,

The Printer menu also switches printers, adds one, and pauses, resumes or stops the print.

Questions, answered.

Is Bambu Bar free?

Yes. Bambu Bar is free and open source under the MIT license. Download the signed, notarized build from GitHub, or build it yourself from the source.

Which printers does it work with?

Every Bambu Lab printer that connects over your network: P2S, P1S, P1P, X1, X1 Carbon, X1E, A1, A1 mini and the H2 family (H2D, H2D Pro, H2S, H2C), all verified on hardware.

Do I need a Bambu Lab account or the cloud?

No. Bambu Bar talks to your printer directly over your local network, the same way Bambu Studio does in LAN mode. The printer can stay bound to your Bambu Lab account and in cloud mode; nothing goes through a cloud service.

Does it collect any data?

No. There is no account, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. The only request besides your printers is an optional daily update check against this project's GitHub releases (the Mac App Store version makes none), and it sends nothing about you or your printers.

Why can't I pause or stop a print?

Bambu Lab only accepts pause, resume, stop and speed commands from third-party apps when the printer is in LAN Only mode with Developer Mode on (printer screen → Settings → Network). Status works in any mode, and the chamber light works either way. Without it, Bambu Bar shows a lock on the buttons and tells you why.

Where do I find the access code?

Usually you don't have to: if Bambu Studio or OrcaSlicer on your Mac has used the printer, Bambu Bar reads the code from its settings. You can also drop another Mac's BambuStudio.conf onto the setup page, or read the 8-character Access Code on the printer's screen under Settings → Network. The code is stored in your keychain and only ever sent to the printer.

Can it watch more than one printer?

Yes, as many as you have. All Printers lists them with the ones that need you first (failed, paused), then by soonest finish. You choose which printer the menu bar follows, or let it pick whichever is busy. When your slicer knows several printers, Add All sets them all up at once.

Which languages does it speak?

Eighteen: English, Czech, Dutch, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Portuguese (Brazil), Russian, Simplified and Traditional Chinese, Spanish, Swedish, Turkish and Ukrainian. It follows your Mac's language, or the one you pick in Settings → Language. Printer terms match Bambu Studio, and printer errors use Bambu Lab's official translations where Bambu publishes them; Czech, Turkish and Ukrainian show errors in English for now, and Traditional Chinese shows the Simplified Chinese texts.

Does it show the camera?

Not today. Bambu Bar focuses on status, filament, temperatures, errors and controls, and keeps CPU use under 1% in the background.

What do I need to run it?

macOS 26 Tahoe or later on Apple silicon or Intel, and a Bambu Lab printer on the same local network as your Mac. When macOS asks whether Bambu Bar may find devices on your local network, click Allow.

Is it on the Mac App Store? What about Windows and Linux?

A sandboxed Mac App Store version is on its way; until then, download the notarized build from GitHub. Windows and Linux versions are coming next.

Is Bambu Bar made by Bambu Lab?

No. Bambu Bar is independent, community-developed software by rolottr. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Bambu Lab. Bambu Lab, Bambu Studio, Bambu Handy, AMS and the printer names are trademarks of Bambu Lab.
